Did any of you give you DS/DD a small bottle of water once a day with high fructose corn syrup (even if your exclusively breastfeeding). My sister-in-law's pediatrician told her to start doing that when her DD was 6 weeks old(even though she exclusively breastfeeds), now my mother is bothering me to start doing the same thing. I figured if it was nessecary then my DD's Pediatrician would have told me by now (My DD is 9 weeks old). I keep telling my mother she doesn't need it, she won't listen. So I'm asking you ladies in an effort to help resolve this matter! Thanks ladies!

YES! I keep saying the same thing!! He said it would make her go longer between a feeding if she needed and would help clean out her system. I just personally don't agree, breastmilk is mainly water and I'm not giving my child high frutose corn syrup.
Breastfeeding and pregnant!
That's old school, outdated advice.
Infants generally don't need any water until they start eating solids.
Seriously. If my doctor said that, we'd have a new one the next day.
All your baby needs is breastmilk for the first 6 months. Corn syrup is not a quality food for any age.

I think our kid's pedi did graduate in 1950 or close to it and there isn't a chance in hell he would ever give that advice.

I don't normally believe in giving unsolicited advice, but this is one case where I think that you might want to say something to your SIL. Her pediatrician is giving her bad advice. There is no reason for her to be regularly supplementing HFCS water (unless there is some underlying issue that we are unaware of).
I F-ing hate doctors who give out bad advice.
