Success after IF

Failed my 1hr GTT. Ugh!

Oh man!  I really hope that I pass my 3hr test or I am going to be totally upset!  I don't think I can handle having gestational diabetes!  (I mean, I will do what I need to do, but its really going to suck.)

Tell me some success stories where you failed your 1hr, but passed your 3hr!  FWIW - the cut off was 130 and I was at 155.  (Is that really bad?)

Re: Failed my 1hr GTT. Ugh!

  • I failed the 1 hr with both pregnancies. I have to take it early because diabetes runs in my family. Anyway, the last one I took (around 13 weeks), I failed it miserably... I think I came in around 185 or something (190 is the cut off; they just call it GD at that point). Well, I passed the 3hr just fine. Good luck!!!!

  • With Paige, I failed the one hour BADLY!  Mine was over a 200.  Passed the 3 hour no problems.

With the twins, I barely failed the 1 hour - at a 150 or so.  And I failed the 3 hour and had diabetes.

    So...there ya go.

I hope you pass!!! : )  If you don't though - it isn't that bad.  And it helped me gain only 30 pounds in a full-term twin pregnancy!

  • I forget what my #s were but I definitely failed the 1 hour. When I went for the 3 hour, I pass the first draw but they still had me stay to do the other 2. (I guess they just wanted to make sure). Anyways, there are so many instances where people have failed the 1 hour and done just fine with the 3 hour. It sucks to have to deal with the 3 hour but you do what you have to do.

  • i failed the 3 hour, but just wanted to reassure you that you will be okay if you have GD! it's a PITA but you get used to it. if it turns out you have it, page me and i'll tell you all the yummy things you can eat even if you have GD.

hoping you pass the 3-hour, though!

  • I wish I had a success story...but I failed my 1 hour with Parker and then went on to fail the 3 hour too.

I can honestly say that even though it did suck not to be able to eat ice cream, I looked great at the end of my pregnancy with him...not swollen hardly at all, and I only gained 26 lbs.  It was NOTHING to lose 26 lbs afterwards.

I have LOTS of great eating tips for GD, if you end up with it...which I pray you don't.

    Good luck!!!

  • I failed it twice and passed the 3 hour, with flying colors, both times (I had to do it twice during my one pregnancy - early and later).  Sucks that you have to do the 3 hour, but, I hope you pass!
