Has anyone taken their LO to the sibling class at VHC to prepare for the arrival of #2? It is only $30, and that is really the only way the kids can see the postpartum ward beforehand I believe. I think it would be helpful for DS to see the nursery and esp the room I will be in when he comes to visit me so he knows what to expect. But I'd like to hear from others if it is worth the time/cost. TIA!
Re: sibling class at Virginia Hosp Ctr?
I heard the class was a real waste of time from a friend who did it.
But, you can totally take your son over there anytime. After each of my last several doc appts (say from 36 wks on, or so), I took a walk over to the nursery to see the brand new babies with my daughter. My OB actually suggested it. You just get buzzed in, and don't need to check with anyone, and then just walk around to take a peek into the nursery. There were always a few babies in there, and my daugther loved going to check them out through the window. We only stayed for 5-10 min each time, but it was nice for her and me to check the place out.
Good to know! I think this may be what we do. Thanks for the info. Useonfire, we didn't have a specific date in mind but we don't need to have the baby doll/diapering thing or the other aspects of the 'class.' We just wanted to have a way to visit the floor so it's not so foreign when the big event comes. Let me know if you take it this Saturday and what you think!
My DH thought it would be a fun thing for him to do with DS on a Saturday morning so we signed up. I may actually attend too since I don't think I've seen the floor since it's been remodeled completely (I think it was undergoing renovations when I was there).
We'll be there too. Is your DH coming along?
I'm not sure yet...I'd like him to come, but work has been crazy for him this week and last week and he'd probably just like some quiet time at the house (where he will probably be working...ugh).
