How do you research doctors?

We are considering changing DD's eye surgeon, but I can't figure out where to start my research.  Her regular eye doctor came highly recommended, but I don't know anyone who has experience with eye surgery to get a surgeon rec.  Googling his name gave me one review, which was nice, but I was hoping for more.  Any ideas?
