Drinking bath water.

J insists on drinking his bath water. If he's sitting up straight he leans all the way forward and dives for it. If I have a wash cloth he tries to suck on it. The only way I can prevent it is to put him on his back which just makes him mad. Does anyone have a clever solution to this?

Re: Drinking bath water.

  • I can't help with a solution but DS does this as well. He'll squeeze one of his ducks and fill it with water and then put it in his mouth and suck the water out. When he showers with DH he'll open his mouth to drink the water from the shower head. It kinda funny to watch. Lol

  • Distraction! I am constantly giving DD toys and splashing the water during her bath so she doesn't suck down a bunch of bath water. She also loves to shower with one of us. I know it's not that clever but it works for us right now. .

  • I wish I had a solution but I just let DS suck on the washcloth. I figure anything I try wont stop him for long, I can remember sucking the water out of washcloths when I was little. Plus I can just take the washcloth away if I think he's getting too much water. He doesn't dive in yet, thankfully! :)

  • I agree that maybe a distraction will help.  DD loves to suck on the washcloth too, but I only let it be in her mouth as the first thing to wash her gums. Once it's hit the used water, she's done.

  • I bathe DD in the kitchen sink. It's big enough for her but not enough for her to dip her head into the water. I also bring lots of bath toys.
