My DS just turned four in December so we won't start school until 2013; he is currently going to preschool two days a week for three hours each day. When he starts kindergarten it will be all day. Registration for Preschool next year opens in the beginning of February and we are trying to decide if we should send him three days or five days next year. I really wish our parent/teacher conference was prior to the registration so that we could get their opinion.
Just curious to see how old your child/children are and how often they go to preschool.
Re: How many days a week does your child go to Preschool?
Oldest:
- didn't start until age 4 when he went 2 half days a week at a public school.
- age 5 red shirted (no kindy), changed to a day care type learning center where he goes 3 full days a week.
- age 6 Kindy next year will be 5 half days a week (+ 3 days of after care) or 2 full days and 1 half day + after care to total 3 full days a week. They offer a 5 day a week full day program but it's fee based and not what we need as I only work part time
Youngest:
- started at 3.5 at the day care type learning center where he goes 3 full days a week.
- will continue there next year at age 4.5 - 5.5 as well.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
Oldest son - two years of preschool. 1st year 2 x week and 2 1/2 hours each session. 2nd year 3x week and 2 1/2 hours each session. Started Kindergarten in the fall - half day. Could have easily done a full day!
Middle son - started last Spring 4 x week and 2 1/2 hours a day. This year same (part of an IEP for Speech). Next year (holding out from Kindergarten) but still has an IEP at same school - 5 x week and 2 1/2 hours a day. I think he will have a harder time with everyday and longer days and thankful it is half day for him.
I am hoping my third child follows the first son's schedule.
DD, who turns 4 in Feb. started prek this past August. Through Dec. she went MWF from 8-12. We started her 5 days M-F this month. She loves it. Bascially it was my hesitation and letting go issues keeping her from the 5 days.
She will have another year of prek Aug 2012- May 2013 going 5 days 8-12; then in August 2013 she will start K, 5 days a week, from 8-2:30.
DD is in K3 and goes 3 half days. In the fall she will be in K4 and go 5 half days. Kindy will be 5 full days - 8:00 - 2:30.
She would go 5 days now if I would let her and they had an open spot!
This year, DD1 goes 3 half days a week. Next year we're thinking 3 full days a week to prepare her for full-day Kindergarten.
BFP 5/07 - Kylie born 2/08. BPF 2/09 - Alexandra born 10/09.

BFP 2/14 - Missed M/C found at 8.5 weeks. D&C at 9w2d. Partial Molar Pregnancy.

Griffin is going to be 5 in march and goes 3 days a week- it's full day preschool in his daycare.
my twins are 2.5 and go 2 days/week.... probably going to start them 3 days/week in Sept.
DS started last year at 2.5 and went 3 days a week, 9-1:30. I got a job in March and he started going to aftercare through the last school year.
This year he goes (sometimes) 5 days a week, varying hours depending on the day. I say sometimes because I don't work on Th, but I do send him sometimes. He does not go to aftercare on Th.
my read shelf:
DS goes 5 days a week, 8:45-12:15
dd1 does 4yr old preschool 3 days a week/3hrs a day. She will have just one year of preschool before kindergarten and I feel she will be ready.
dd2 I plan on doing 3yr old preschool 2days a week. Then when she is 4, do 3 days a week.
DS will be 4 this week and goes in the mornings M-F and he attends the after school care program in the afternoons.
I agree with the pp, you have to do what works best for you and your family.
She is 4 and goes three mornings a week; next year, she'll be in four-day morning pre-k.
Kindergarten here is half day; if it were full, I'd probably opt for the five-day pre-k next year. We have friends who live in a different district where kindergarten is full day, but their preschool only has the option of three-day pre-k, so their DS will have to make the big jump next year whether they like it or not.
He's in the 3's program and goes 2 times a week for 3hrs a day
Next year it will be 3 times a week for 3hrs
