Similac Sensitive and constipation?

Did anyone switch to similac sensitive and have some constipation issues? We switched a few days ago because Noah was seeming to be a little gassed up like our first son was, but then he pooped Saturday at 630am and then nothing until Sunday at 2pm and nothing since. Anything I can do, I would think the sensitive would help the tummy troubles.

Re: Similac Sensitive and constipation?

  • We had a little bit of formula issues with Carter before we landed on the similac sensitive. First we were on Gerber Soy, which at first was fine, Carter pooped every time he ate, then he started getting constipated, Pedi said try the gerber gentle, we did that, that was HORRIBLE on his tummy, awful gas, and constipation, then he said to go to similac sensitive, we did that, it took a few days, but now he poops usually once a day usually in the am and sometimes once in the pm, but he is no where pooping like he use too, but all the gas issues and a lot of the fussiness has gone down.

  • Same with the previous poster. He is less fussy, and has less gas (we also use the gas drops in each bottle). However, the first two days he was constipated, and he usually poops once a day.

  • Most forumla fed babies don't poop everyday. In fact, is normal for formula fed babies to go numerous days without pooping. Constipation is not a lack of poop for infants, it is hard dry poop. L is on similac sensitive and had some issues the first few days (chonicled by my frantic posts LOL) but she now seems to have worked the issue out. Anytime you switch formulas there will be a period of adjustment for baby's poop.

  • Hi- I would check with your pediatricain but we switched our little one from Similac Advanced to Sensitive along with nursing 2 months ago- she started averaging a BM every 3-4 days and I was concerned but the Ped was not concerned becasue it takes time for their bodies to get accustomed to the change- she has just started having daily BM's-it depends if it is really a constipation issue or just spread out BM's.
