MrsWhite- juicer

When you get a minute, I would love to hear about your juicer.  Have you been drinking it too?

The idea of thick juice kind of makes me want to gag, but I am getting desperate for getting more healthy stuff in my kids and they are currently both growing or something and begging for food all day long.

  • We bought the Jack Lalaine (sp?) Juicer and we've loved it so far. You get a big recipe booklet inside the box when you buy the machine. They even give you recipes to use the pulp which I thought was cool. The juice really isn't thick. I've made DH the same juice every morning; Carrot, Cucumber, Kale and Apple. Some mornings I added beets, 1 I added red pepper and 1 I added pineapple. They're yummy so far. Justin LOOOOVES making it but won't touch the stuff. He will only drink ice water though and won't touch anything else.

The problem I have with it is that it takes a ton of veggies to make juice. This morning I used 2 full carrots, 1/2 of a cucumber, a handful of Kale and 1/2 an apple to make 8oz juice. It gets kinda expensive. We can't wait to use it with our garden and farmer's market finds.

  • Not to butt in.. but I have a Breville juicer.  I haven't used it in a while because I don't want to deal with the set up, cleanup, and we store it in the basement so  I don't want to be trekking it up and down the stairs.

But - the juice isn't thick.  The strainer part is very fine, so like for apples, the juice is like regular juice.  I mostly made stuff like carrot-apple type juice, nothing too crazy.  I should get it out again though :)  And MrsWhite does have a good point, it uses up a ton of fruits/veggies!

  • Thank you both!
