So we tried chicken today (pureed)...and she HATED it. She wouldn't even swallow it. She also hated peaches, but I think that was because they were strong tasting. So my question is...when you make chicken for baby how do you do it? I thought about adding some apple (more apple than chicken) to see if she would eat that. I think maybe she doesn't like the texture (cause it doesn't taste like much). Thanks!
Re: Making baby food chicken
I found a recipe for poached chicken meatballs today and Abbey devoured them!!! I tried to share it from my tablet but I guess it didn't post so I'll add it here instead!
First you can sautee about a tbsp of onion/shallot in some olive oil...once it's soft (and sweet) you can toss it in the blender/food processor with a slice of bread (add a bit at a time) to make breadcrumbs. Blend this with ground chicken, applesauce and if you want (I didn't) add a little dash of thyme, pepper and parmesan cheese.
Using a 1 tsp measuring spoon I dropped little balls into boiling chicken stock (low sodium) and cooked the balls *giggle* for about 5 minutes. She ate 4 of them and I froze the rest.
HTH
Ohhh that might work! Her face, while hysterical, showed complete disgust. I would really like to get some meat in her, though!
lol yeah Abbey literally almost vomited the first time she tried chicken just by itself...both pureed and not...I think it's just too bland and a weird texture.
I was making a meal for us, and just kept out a portion for DS. Here is what I did:
In my crockpot I threw in some chicken breasts with water. Once I could shred it with a fork, I put one breast in my blender until it was all the same texture. Then I froze that in my normal cubes.
It is really dry so I never give it to DS straight. I mix it in with squash or sweet potatoes. He has never refused it.
