It's GONE!

For now! Hopefully forever!

Walker had ROP and we opted out of laser surgery to do the Avastin injections. After 24 hours, he was looking pretty good. Now, after 5 days, Walker is ROP free! It is ALL GONE!!

He'll have his regularly scheduled eye exams every Wednesday.

We are doing good. Walker is rockin' the CPAP! He's on 20% oxygen but they want to give him some more time on it...whatever! They don't want to rush him, but if he's been on room air, or below, for a week, why wouldn't they?

They tried feedings and he was doing well. 4 cc to 8 cc to 10 cc to 15 and we had difficulties with 15cc in which x-rays showed he has a blockage. Surgery came in and said to stick a tube through the nose pass the blockage into the intestines and keep feeding. When he went back to get the tube placed, they were unable to get pass the blockage. So we've been NPO since Thursday.  They are thinking of starting feeds again this week on a continuous flow and see how much he can tolerate. He's weighing in at 3 pounds 11 ounces and is 16.5 inches long. Could be longer, we'll find out tonight.

I'm glad to see tha the ROP went away!  Yay for good news Smile  Re: the CPAP...it seemed to me like Ryan was on room air forever too. What's his rate?  Ryan finally got off CPAP when his rate was down to 5...and that was a few days later.  One day his prongs came out and he was fine.  The nurse asked the docotors if he could come off support and they agreed to try.  He didn't even need cannula.  Hang in there, he will be off soon!

His pressure is 6. His nurse for 3 nights would take them off for bath time and his sats were 93. He was doing good. She's mentioned it to the doctors but they want to give him more time. He hates the CPAP! He's always trying to push it off and pull at the tubes.
