C-Section Recovery Kit

I was flipping through a pregnancy magazine this morning and saw an ad for the Abdomend from csectionrecoverykit.com.

Has anyone ever used it? I've never tried a binder after a c-section and I'm wondering if it's worth a try.

Re: C-Section Recovery Kit

  • My hospital gave me the binder after I had my c section... I took it off when I went to the bathroom the day after surgery and it hurt so bad when it was off, I had to out it right back on...so if your hospital doesn't provide you with one, I would certainly get one!!!

  • I bought a binder 2 days after my csection, it was great and I highly recommend one. Mine was a cheap medela brand from BRU

  • I got a binder from the hospital but it made the pain worse.  I used nothing after my c-section and still to this day.

  • I never used one, but honestly, I don't see how it would help. They seem like a torture device to me. I wanted nothing near my incision, and it healed up great.

  • I was given one from my hospital, tried it once and never put it on again. It hurt badly.

I healed just fine without one but, everyone has a different experience!

  • I answered this in another post but I will again.  I had 2 binders at first, one Medela one and one that the hospital ordered for me (so it was super $$$).  At first I thought they were a life saver, but they were bulky and hard to keep in place and kept sliding around.  Then I got the Motherhood Maternity post partum csection undies and they were a million times better.  They "bind" you together because they are stretchy and super tight, but they come up over your uterus and don't slip at all.  Much, much better.  3 weeks later if I don't wear them I'm significantly more uncomfortable, they are hands down the best thing I got for recovery!
  • Our hospital provided me with a binder.  Once they gave it to me, it made a world of difference.  It made me feel "put together" when I had to do the first intitial getting out of bed routine (OUCH!).  It never irritated my incision either.  It was put on over my hospital gown.  I even wore it for the first few weeks home too.  I think it really helped my recovery!

  • I didn't know about a binder until more than a week after my c/s. I had already had one b/c my chiro gave me one when I was having PGP. I really wish I'd known sooner to use this thing. I was on strong narcotics still even several days after arriving home after my 5 day hospital stay. Using a binder I was med-free the next day. I definitely recommend them for anyone having a c/s and have kept mine just in case. I hope to VBAC the next time around but if not that binder will be on standby.
