So my DH and I already knew years ago what we would name our baby if it was a girl (Madelynn Elizabeth) BUT we are still not in an agreement for a boy. We narrowed it somewhat down and had a contender of Liam Michael but the more I thought of it the more I didn't like it. I found the name Greyson (Grayson) but DH is not thrilled. I absolutely love the name Greyson Michael. I think it is very unique and I don't want a name that is very common because I have a VERY common name and there were at least two Amanda's in my classes while going through school. I also like the name Aiden Michael but haven't told DH because I know he will automatically lean towards Aiden. What are some of your thoughts on the name Greyson Michael?
Re: DH is not fond of the baby boy name that I love...
This. If you are worried about it being over popular then I would go another way. There is a good chance your child would have other boys and girls with the name in their classes. Also, Aiden is pretty much the trendiest name there is right now , and all the other versions of it - Caiden, Jayden, Brayden, etc.
Grayson, even when you spell it with an E is not even close to unique - it is a trendy name. Maybe more unique than Aiden, but not unique in the least.
It jumped 50 spots in a year - trendy and climbing in popularity. If you want unique look at names not climbing at the SS name list. And possibly out of the top 200 (or higher)

Hate Grayson (and Greyson) and it is a very trendy name - I know 3 Grayson's under the age of 6. Aiden is also a very trendy/common name.
I wouldn't push to name DC if DH really did not like the name and have had to "give up" some names that I love that he dislikes. It is our child and we have to agree.
They are great names, if they are not to popular where you live, go for it I also agree your DH should love your name.
(Aiden is a great name, this board is just not big on Aiden, Jayden, Kayden, Hayden, as you will see Try asking around in real life.
Good luck, you have plenty of time.
I think Aiden, Liam, and Madelynn are fine names, but I agree with pps- if you are looking for an uncommon or unique name, none of those fit the bill. Girls' names that can be shortened to Maddie or Addie are incredibly popular and she will likely be one of 2-3 in her class. Greyson/Grayson isn't uncommon or unique either- I know 3 under the age of 4. It is a very trendy name.
I'd suggest you keep looking. If you really want an uncommon name, check out the SSA list for names between 500 and 1000 and see if anything there appeals to you.
As pp's have mentioned, none of your names are unique.
I do not like the Grey- trend AT ALL. The color is so dull, I don't understand the appeal. It is definately a trendy name and will time stamp your child much the same way you may feel Amanda has time stamped you. This is coming from a mid 70s Heather
I still adore Aidan despite it's popularity. Aidan Michael is a very nice name and may be the right compromise for you two.
I'm with pps on this - you mention unique, but these names are not. If you love the names, then that is fine, but if you are looking for unique, these aren't the ones:

Liam, Aiden, and Grayson are in the top 10 of 2011.
I also agree with pps not to push your H into a name he doesn't like. Maybe you should both come up with your own lists, compare and ditch any you don't like and then move on from there. Use your resources too - by researching names around forums like this or on other sites, you can gain an understanding of what is popular right now or might be in the near future. Remember that name trends are always changing and popular names from 5 or 10 years ago are no longer popular and ones that seemed unique while you were growing up are not anymore.
I was reading an article the other day that explained most parents that regret the name they chose regretted it because they had not researched the popularity or what names are trending etc. and they chose a name they thought was unique and then their kid ended up in Kindergarten with 3 others of the same name.
I suggest lurking around some sites for more information, create a list and show H, cross off ones he doesn't like (have him make his own list?) and then begin to narrow it down.

Grayson/Greyson is ranked #88 on there. Aiden is #1. That's how common the names actually are if you take into account the spellings.

Greyson is becoming very popular so I don't think it is that unique, although it is more so than Aiden.
I don't like Greyson. I know 4 under the age of 10 (and I don't have many friends with kids) so it's popular a least in my circles. It doesn't strike me as anything unique at all. I also just don't really like it.
Aiden is super popular - it was on our list before we realized the popularity.
I love Liam, but if you don't like it, go back to the drawing board.
