I SAH and when I left my job where I was bringing a very nice paycheck, so it was a big cut to our house, however DH did get a promotion while I was out on maternity leave. Well we make it by and comfortably but we could be more comfortable and have more breathing room.
I just recently signed up with a Mystery shopping company that my bestfriend works for and I got my first assignment tomorrow which should take 30-45 minutes. If I do well tomorrow then since there is not very many people in my area I can be first in line for the work every week.
It will not be like a full time job paycheck, but on average if I only did it on weekends I would bring in around 200-300 a month. We can really use this. I am so excited. Just had to share!!!
Re: I get to start making a little money!!!!
I am in Orlando, Where are you??? Not that, that will change me giving you the info, there are enough shops to go around and different types. If you want I can either PM you here or if you give me your email I can email you all the info if you would like! I can even tell you how it sort of works exactly when I go tomorrow! :-) It seems to be a great way to make a little extra cash no matter your situation SAH, or Working mom!
I know my best friend loves it and it gives them some extra cash! I will for sure let all of you ladies know how it goes tomorrow! I just have to pick what time I want to go, but because I am so excited I will probably go early!
I am in the Tampa Area. I pmed you. We go to Orlando all the time. We some friends out there and we go to the theme parks all the time.
I am going to be vague about it because I believe you are not supposed to talk about the shops you mystery shop or anything like that. However, first off you should never have to pay someone for info. But if you go to https://mysteryshopforum.com/ It's a reputable forum and they have a list of all of the reputable companies that you can work with. You can also browse around and get way way way more info than I could ever give since I am just starting.
The company I am starting off with is Reality Based Group, but find their link through the forum. Funny story, I found them because a scam company sent me a check, and when I told my bestfriend about it, she assured me that was not legit because she has worked with them and that is not how it works and gave me the real companies correct link. So if anything go through the forum and click on the companies that way. Here is the direct link for that page https://www.mysteryshopforum.com/companies/ Scroll down past where they list the top 15 companies discussed and it is there at the bottom.
I can tell you what I do know is that some companies pay faster than others, some may pay within a week, some by the end of the month some by the next month. Also, if you do certain ones like price audits you just have to spend like $1.00 to show you were there an you get paid for each item you price off the list.
Others you may do a restaurant shop and you get reimbursed for what you spent plus payed for your services. That's about all I know, not to much, but more info is on that forum. Just be cautious if you venture off of there for any info because there are a lot of scams out there.
Oh and Market Force is a pretty big company, you just google it and it WILL be the first on the list.
ETA: I went ahead and explained here because I did not realize so many of you would want the info.
I pmed you back also. It would be awesome to meet you sometime if you came to Orlando!!
I was a secret shopper through college- I probably made about $200 a month. My biggest account was Starbucks.
Here's how it works.
You get a list of available "shops" and you sign up for yours-- usually you have to complete within 24 hours.
Each store has it's own set of rules. Long story short, for Starbucks I needed an official thermometer, scales, etc. Others have lists of questions you have to ask- usually open ended ones.
On the shop, you have to be sure they never figure you out. Most places are looking for single people who look like they dont belong, so bringing the baby or someone with you will help keep your "cover".
Once you are done, you log in and write up the survey. They always want to know the exact time you started and stopped, and some places will check their video cameras and computers to make sure you got the right things.
The only crappy part is you have to lay out money and wait to get reimbursed. Sometimes I would have to spend $60-70 at various starbucks in one day, and wait a month to get reimbursed.
Every once in awhile they will go back and question one of your shops to make sure you aren't lying-- so always keep your notes!
Okay ladies, so I finished up and just got done sending in the report. It really was not bad at all, took a little longer than expected but I think it was because we were getting the hang of it.
I had to do price audits, where you pretty much get an item name and number and document the price. I did not have to spend anything as the place I went did not have anything under $1.00 (which is all they want you to spend out of pocket, like gum or something, when doing price audits just for proof you were there), so all I had to do was get a business card from one of the employees and scan it to them along with the spreadsheet with the price info.
I think it went really well and was super easy. My only suggestion if you ever were to do a price audit do not take anyone with you. If you have someone help you, have them stay at home and talk to them on the phone. And for sure do not take a baby with you, super bad idea, LOL!
