I found out yesterday that lo#2 is on its way. I'll have a repeat c/s. Will the recovery be the same as the first? I developed toxemia after my c/s the first time, will it most likely show back up after this one? I know these questions sound silly.
My recovery with the second has been much, much easier because I didn't go through all the labor. Not really sure what your experience with the first was so I can't say for you, but for me it was night and day.

My second section was soooooooooooo much easier than the first. The first was a planned section as well but it didn't matter. Many of my friends have said the same. I don't know about the toxemia thing though. you might want to speak to your dr. about that.
repeat c-section was a walk in the park compared to my first c-section. Hoping my that the 3rd is even easier. I agree with pp....with first I was in labor for 27 hours, never dilated, pitocin, baby never dropped, exhausted from all of that and then major surgery on top of it all.
2nd...got a good night sleep the night before, (instead of timing contractions and getting no sleep the night before) walked into the hospital with a pillow under my arm and 2 hours later I had my baby girl. Hopefully the toxemia does not come back, I don't know much about that.
Likely you will have to be monitored more closely by your doctors during the seconjd half of your pregnancy for signs of pre-e. While you are at higher risk for pre-e, it is not set in stone that it will happen this pregnancy.
Good luck!

I can't even tell you how much better my rcs was! I loved my rcs. It was a great delivery and I have nothing but fond memories. My first cs was an emergency and was a complete nightmare. I had hoped to vbac dd2 but never went in to labor or had any progress on my own. My ob would not induce from nothing so I had an rcs and am now so happy with the way it turned out. I was discharged after 2 days and felt pretty darn good (about 90% at discharge). I was very careful to take it easy for a couple weeks, despite feeling like I could do more and I never really had anything I would describe as pain...just mild soreness (the gas pains were no fun but lasted less than 2 days). DH was home for a week but I didn't have (or need) any help after that. No problems taking care of the newborn and 21 month old. Still, I had people lined up to come over and help if I needed it. I just never had to call them. With my first, I was in rough shape and needed help pretty much 24/7 for about 3 weeks. Good luck to you. I hope your rcs is as great as mine was!

I'm having a rcs in March (my daughter is 14 months old right now). I'm also pouring over these responses, because I had HELLP and toxemia with the first (but it was at 39 weeks, so they just took her out ASAP when we got my blood test results). I CAN tell you that my OB said a repeat of Toxemia or HELLP is SUPER RARE, and while it can occur, the chances are slim (which was a huge relief to me, because HELLP and the C/S and recovery (featuring magnesium chloride and the worst gas pains in the world) were no fun).
They will monitor you like crazy though, and that's a good thing- catching it early is key. And you know the symptoms first hand now, so that should also help! GOOD LUCK!!!
