Pear puree...

If you make up a big batch how do you keep it from turning brown??

I know lemon or lime juice will keep it from turning but I don't want to put that on DS' food.

I don't steam the pears or anything, just peel and throw in the magic bullet. I haven't made a big enough batch to need to freeze it yet, but I'm sure it would still turn brown even if I froze it.

Any tips?

  • I don't put anything in it.  It doesn't bother me if it turns brown - it is a natural process, not a sign that something is "bad".

  • ours have not turned. I freeze them in the tray right away.

    I know they aren't bad and I still feed them to him. I'd just rather they stay their normal color lol.

  • Same here. If I freeze right away the don't turn brown but if I keep them in a fridge for a bit they do. It doesn't bother me if they turn though.
