I am so excited to introduce solids to LO at the end of this month. Just last month he started sitting upright on my lap and in a Bumbo. Hopefully, This week we will buy a booster seat and see if he can sit upright in that.
Also, he has started (finally) showing special interest in food. Until this point he would put anything in his mouth as soon as it was in his hands. Now he is looking at us eat and sometimes does a chewing motion.
I know that the solids should just be for exploring at this point and he may not get anything in him but I can't contain myself (can you tell that I don't do much for excitement). I just registered today for an infant CPR class and downloaded the 100 BLW recipes.
One thing I am worried about is that I will only do it 4 days a week. I am going back to school part time and don't want him to be fed at daycare.I am sure they would have a conniption if I said to let him feed himself, plus I want one-on-one observation for the first few weeks and they probably can't do that. I don't want it to be dinner on days that I go to school because I think I might be tired and not pay attention. Is this a big deal?
Are there any down-to-earth pieces of advice you would give me about starting solids?
Re: Introducing solids.
Prepare to be disappointed! We started BLW right around 6 months, and he didn't eat anything really for at least 3 weeks. Be patient. I would offer at dinner on the days you have class. If he doesn't feel like eating, he won't. It's still good to include him at the table.
It is fun, but it takes some time for a BLW baby to get into it and longer to realize that solids are filling. I haven't done any special recipes. I give him fruit and veggies and if our food doesn't have too much salt/sugar, he gets some. It's been really easy, and he's doing great.

I don't think it matters if you don't do it every day - we didn't in the beginning. But I'd imagine that you'd have at least breakfast or dinner time with him on those days right? I'm not sure that you would be so tired that paying attention would be an issue at dinner on your class days once you get going. I don't feel like it matters what meal you start with first or even if you do the same meal time everyday (although I do think it's important to eat with LO as they learn through mimicking us).
Mostly just have fun with it! Don't stress out and feel like you have to micro manage or watch LO like a hawk. Expect a big mess and way more playing than eating in the beginning - but that's part of learning - solids are just for fun for the first year ;-)
