do you always feel the baby drop b4 labor?

I don't feel like this baby has dropped at all... does that mean that labor is not going to start soon?  Could I go into labor before the baby drops?  Anyone know?

(FYI- My DD was induced, so I don't know what the start of labor really feels like and am getting nervous about knowing when I'm in labor).

  • I have been reading that usually most with second (or more) baby, you do not drop until you are actually in labor.

This. I had an appt today and asked the NP about this and she said baby 2+ often doesn't drop prior to labor.

  • I'm a second time mom but I'm a midget (lol!) so I carried low in my last pregnancy as well as with the current one. I asked my doctor about my baby dropping and he said that even if my baby did drop, I'd barely notice it since he doesn't much much room and he'd only drop a couple of inches at most. It probably doesn't help that he's a big baby (about 8 pounds) in my tiny frame. Wince.

I carried high through my entire pregnancy. A couple days before labor he would drop down a bit but then by later that night he was sitting up on my ribs again. I would say he never really dropped. I wouldn't worry about it unless your dr does.
