It was a LONG 25 minutes...

...but the babies are finally asleep.  They are 9 1/2 months and are still not consistently STTN...they were doing pretty good though until they got sick last week.  They are better now, but way out of their routine.  They don't want to go down at night.  We have been holding them til they are asleep, but then when we would lay them down, they'd pop right back up.  I know they need to be able to put themselves to sleep without our help...  So tonight was night one of tough love (CIO)...it was very hard to hear them cry, but after 25 minutes, both are sleeping soundly in their cribs.

For those who have done CIO, how many nights did it take your babies before they were able to start putting themselves to sleep?

Re: It was a LONG 25 minutes...

  • We've had to do CIO at points but our girls have been pretty good sleepers from day one. We recently had to do it with one of our girls because she started screaming everytime we would put her in her crib at bedtime (caused by a lot of cuddling and coddling over the holidays). NIghts 1 and 2 were rough. By night #3, she whimpered a bit but there was no crying. On night #4, she went down without a peep. Now she's back to normal. We put them down and they soothe themselves to sleep. Stay strong and disciplined and they'll be going down peacefully before you know it :)
