Austin Babies

I'm anxious...

I'm anxiously waiting for Monday, when we have our second US and can hopefully hear the heartbeat. We had one at 6 weeks, (which was only last weeks but feels like an eternity ago) and saw the heartbeat but couldn't hear it yet.

I'm also anxious because right now DH is in a lunch interview. He isn't sure he would take it if it's offered (unless it's more money.) So I'm anxious about whether he will be offered the job, and if so, how much it will pay and would he be happy.

And now I'm about to sit through a super boring meeting and I'm nauseous... vent over

  • Good luck, you have lots going on right now.  I hope it all turns out for the best!

  • I could be wrong since it has been 4 years since I've been pregnant (sheesh!  Time flies!), but I wouldn't expect to hear the heartbeat yet.  They usually can't find it on the doppler until closer to 10-12 weeks.  I think some doctors' offices don't even try to hear it until 12 weeks to stop the moms from panicking when they can't find it yet.  just thought I'd set your expectations.

At any rate, best of luck with your appointment, and with your DH's job!

  • I remember feeling the same way between ultrasounds!  I hope you have a good weekend and good luck to your DH.

Oh, and I would think you should be able to see the heartbeating on ultrasound. I'm pretty sure we could only see it at that point.

  • Ditto nanann. Chances are (unless things have changed in the past 3 years), you'll be seeing the heartbeat. My ob/gyn broke out the doppler starting at the 12 week appts., saying that they usually couldn't find it before then.

In any case, enjoy seeing your little one!!

  • Thanks guys! She said we should be able to hear it, and if not then she would send me for a sonagram. I'm more anxious-excited about that than anything and anxious-worried about the job thing. I haven't heard from him yet, so hopefully they are just chatting away and getting along so well that they lost track of time!

I heard mine at my 6w1d transvaginal ultrasound. They use that to listen rather than the Doppler everyone else is thinking. I bet you'll hear it. ;)
