Ouch!

Tuesday night I woke up with an awful leg cramp. It went away eventually, but my calf was a little sore yesterday. Today, it has progressed from a little sore to REALLY sore and swollen too! I've tried heat and some icy hot, which seems to be helping a little, but ugh! Has this happened to anyone else?

  • Maybe you should call your doc to make sure it's not a symptom of a blood clot?  Hope it's just a sore muscle!

  • Yes! This happened to me, but it wasn't sore or swollen after.  Sometimes I flip to my back when sleeping and I get leg cramps and try to stretch them in my sleep.  It was so bad in my left leg the other night, I work up and jumped out of bed, scaring my DH.  He thought something was wrong with the baby.  As soon as I stood it went away.  If you are feeling the same, try getting up when it happens.  It seems to help.  Leg cramps are common during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester.  But if it still hurts and is swollen tomorrow I would get it checked out.  Usually there are other signs of a blood clot, like warmth at the spot and your veins would stick out, but still good to get it checked if it keeps going on.

  • yeah i get sore from my leg cramps too, but like PP said, the swelling isnt really characteristic- sounds like a symptom of a blood clot- i'd get it checked in case!! GL

  • I agree with the others. It sounds like a charley horse to me (I've had pain in my leg up to 2 days after a charley horse) but I'm not so sure about the swelling. Best to call the doctor or get checked for a blood clot.

Sounds like you had a  "charley horse". I had one the other day & was sore for a few days after.  But if there is swelling you need to CALL YOUR DR ASAP!!! Like op have said it could be a clot!!!! Better safe than sorry so do call... Good luck hope it's nothing...
