I know it's recommend by cotton babies to add bleach every now and then to your diapers. We have tried a million different things including more soap, less soap, different soap, more water, more rinses but the only time our diapers don't have any kind of smell is when we add a little bleach. Does anyone add bleach to every load or know of an alternative if that's the only thing that's worked?
Re: Bleaching question
Have you tried the baking soda soak, vinegar rinse method?
https://www.diaperpin.com/howto.asp - listed under the heading "No Soak Method"
If you have bumGenius, Flip, or Econobum diapers baking soda and vinegar are not recommended products to use on your diapers. Also 1/4 cup of bleach once a month is all that is recommended for the diapers.
I started having some smell issues and I changed my wash routine a bit, and haven't had any issues since!
Here is my wash routine:
1 full cold wash with 1 scoop of bumGenius detergent
1 full hot wash with 1 scoop of bumGenius detergent
1 extra cold rinse
Since I switched to this routine I haven't even needed to use the recommended 1/4 cup of bleach a month! Good luck mama, I hope you find something that works for you!
