Induction cancelled :(

Well, I was supposed to be induced today at 7. At 6 we get a call saying that they were slammed with other deliveries and to call back at 10. At 945 they call saying the doctor had an emergency and can't do it. I call the clinic to reschedule and they don't know what's going on. Only that the doctor had an emergency and then will be going out of town (for who knows how long.) I am so disappointed.

How far along are you? Maybe your baby will just come on his/her own soon

That stinks Hopefully your LO decides to come on their own... and then you know you'll be the priority at the hospital!

Is there another doctor at the same practice who could do the induction for you?  Who is your doctor's back up while he/she is out of town?

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I was just venting. I'm 39 weeks 3 days. I wanted to be induced because my mom and stepdad are here (who live out of state) and are only here for a very short time. I'm more disappointed at my doctor's office giving me the run around. Last week I was 50% effaced and 2.5-3cm dilated. So hopefully I'll just go into labor soon on my own. Thanks for listening.

I hope you get to go back in when your family is here.  I commend you for doing what I am doing to..an elective induction.  I am doing mine a few days before DD and some ladies on another board rip me a new one because of it.  I hope it works out for you!

Well it's nothing to be commended for. Women who stick it out and wait until 42 weeks when a baby is ready need to be commended. For God sakes, babies have their own timeline. Sorry they're such an inconvenience before they're even born.

As someone who had a medically necessary induction. I wouldn't wish that process electively. It's extremely difficult and long. And there's a higher chance you will have a c-section if its not handled properly. Mine was 36 hours. I pushed for 90 minutes. They said it normally is 3 hours of pushing for inductions. I know elective inductions are tempting bit forcing your body to do something it's not ready to is tough and there's other consequences after the fact too like delayed milk production

 Don't rush your body. It will do it's thing in it's own time.  I know it's tempting to schedule it and convenient but not worth it and is selfish. Keep the baby cooking.

Agree 110%. Seems really selfish to force your child into the world to fit into your schedule.

I agree too! I have NO family here and when I had DS they all drove through the night to come see him and if they couldnt make it I just had to live with that. Im not gonna schedule something for my own convenience let alone others! You are having a baby not getting you hair done! Why not just let baby come when he/she wants to come?
