So, my post last week about my "friend" who got her beta numbers back? . . . it was me.
You might remember I got my IUD out in mid-November? Well, apparently I got pregnant that same cycle. Oops. DH and I had planned on waiting a few months--to let my body get back to normal, and just for planning purposes. We actually bought this huge box of condoms . . . anyway, clearly that didn't happen.
But I was doing all this googling about getting pregnant right after getting Mirena out and read all these horror stories the uterine lining not being thick enough and having miscarriages, so my doctor let me come in to do the beta (which were 81 at 18dpo and 158 at 20dpo). Then I went in for another last Friday, it was 969, which seemed low.
Yesterday, I was having some spotting and still just generally feeling nervous about this whole thing, so they let me come in for a sono. Everything looked good but it was only measuring 5w2d, and I thought I was more like 6w3d. There was a yolk sac but no fetal pole. Ack! The midwife said that was normal considering the age on the sonogram, but how is it measuring so far behind? I know when I ovulated--h*ll, I know when I conceived because it's the only time we didn't use protection.
Anyway, we did another beta yesterday. This morning, I woke up to more spotting. In the last half hour or so, there's been some red in it. But my beta numbers came back good--2725, which means they're doubling well.
So . . . I'm pregnant? Currently? But super nervous and anxious? I have another sonogram next week to see if things are developing as they should (although if this bleeding gets any worse, maybe that will be a moot point). I was going to try to hold off on posting until we knew for sure but I can't take the stress anymore.
Thoughts, positive vibes, encouraging stories all appreciated while I go stick my head in a paper bag.

first, squeeee!! second, lots of sticky vibes headed your way!
it sounds promising with the betas continuing to double. have they checked your progesterone levels at all?
No--should they be? I have no idea about this stuff, my last pregnancy was kind of a breeze. (And I realize that I am in a lucky position to be accidentally PG when so many people have a hard time getting there with all kinds of trying . . .)
Also, I figured most of you would see through my ruse

I KNEW IT!! when I read your post I was like "'her friend'...yeah, right!"
congratulations--super happy for you!
(also, my beta numbers were really, really low at first when I was pregnant with Warner. I had to keep going in for blood tests for 2 weeks before the numbers started increasing like they wanted to see.)
Same. I almost emailed you actually (especially after your post about not being a great mental place) but didn't want to be nosey.
Hope everything works out! Fingers crossed.
Aww, thanks. Yeah I was super nervous this morning waiting for the beta results. But those were good, and now the spotting has stopped so . . . you know, just wait and see until my sono next Wednesday.

How exciting and terrifying at the same time - lots of sticky vibes and good thoughts to you. With DS I measured a week behind from the beginning all the way through to our last sono around 28 weeks...he was born a week "early" though, which to me was right on time! GL!
This exactly. Hugs to you!
Sending very good wishes that all is well. It's a nerve-wracking time, I know.
I totally forgot about this, but I definitely had a lot of bleeding after one of my very early appointments - it was so much I was certain I was miscarrying again but it stopped after 3-4 days or so. Try to be postive
OK, this made me laugh.
Thanks so much for all your good wishes--it is so great to know I have the support of all the ladies on this board, no matter what ends up happening.

Congrats and sending good vibes along. The numbers sound promising and you never know, a few days this way or that way, also just because you ovulated a certain day or had sex a certain day doesn't mean you conceived that particular day (I think up to 3 days later can happen) plus then you have wait for implantation and the sono's seem to have some wiggle room in the days, even early on.
Also FWIW, I will obviously believe anything anyone tells me. I totally thought you were asking for a friend.
congratulations!!
just b/c you know the date you had unprotected sex does not mean you know the date of actual conception, I mean: the sperm can live in your body for a few days before it fertilizes an egg
lots of sticky dust your way!!

It's OK! I know there's still a chance this won't end the way we want, and it's good to hear your perspective. I'm seriously trying not to get my hopes up too much yet.

Me too...all your Pinterest pins of nurseries got my wheels turning! :-)
It's been a good while since I've needed to be educated about all that, but from what I remember low progesterone levels (either on their own or combined with betas that don't multiply appropriately) that don't rise can be a potential sign of an impending miscarriage.
With my m/c cycle they ran the progesterone numbers when they did my beta but I have no idea if it's standard or not.
FX for you!!
