Making Money

We are stationed in Japan. It feels like finding a job is pretty much limited to on base and there isn't even a lot available. I know a lot of moms do things from home. It seems like a ton of people sell Scentsy products here. What are some ideas for making money at home? I want to explore some options and need some opinions! I'm creative and open to mostly anything. Making my own hours and being able to stay with my son appeals to me so I want to find something from home.  Thanks ladies :)

Re: Making Money

  • Do you have any hobbies like sewing, knitting or crafting?  You can always turn that into a small buisness.  I have a friend in Germany who sews.  She started an etsy store and sells the items she makes online.  Another friend has an etsy store where she sells the baby booties and gloves she knits.  I have started sewing and plan to sell my items via trunk show at the homes of my friends.  I already have a few friends who have offered to be a hostess.

  • You should look into places that allow you to be a personal assistant via web or take customer service calls. Because of your time difference, you may be able to get in easier since not many people in the States want to work at night. Just google it, a lot of sites and reviews of those sites will come up.

  • A friend of mine makes cakes and cupcakes for birthday and baby showers and all kinda of parties and she has done really well. Another makes the BIG hairbows for little girls and she does really well. There are lots of videos on how to make them on youtube.com. They are pretty easy. I make dogbeds and collars but it's just a hobby. Hope you find something!

  • I sell Scentsy Stick out tongue

andddd I watch another little boy around DS's age so that he can socialize and I can make some cash.  It's pretty easy and keeps me busy.  I basically got to choose which family I wanted and which hours I was available so I like it.  Good luck!

  • I just wanted to say, I am in Japan too!! And I know how hard it is to find a job here! I did babysitting for awhile for a family (just one family), 2-3 days a week. But it was just enough to keep me busy but also to bring in some extra cash as well. I am no longer doing this, but it was great while I did it! Hope you find something you like!

  • I have some friends over in Japan and they quickly were able to pick up some jobs teaching english as a second language. Their degrees were not in education so that is not necessary. I know one gave private lessons at home but is definitely extra cash. Just look up some japanese/english teaching lessons, print them out and go from there.
