So I got a letter that my current ob was retiring. Older lady....only one in her practice.
I called around and around and around to find another female doctor. No luck. Found a few but they are with 3 male doctors and they rotate each visit.
Kind of sucks b/c I was comfy with a woman doctor and knowing who I would have deliver my baby
I guess I have to suck it up.
Can anyone let me know what it's like with a male doctor????
Re: current ob/gyn retiring boo hoo!
I have had 2 male GYNs, one great experience and one horrible.
My DH is a Dr. and delivers and his patients love him... it all just depends on the doctor.
I haven't posted here before as i'm on the TTC board but your post sounds just like mine from earlier today on TTC! I had an older lady OB who i loved and just got a letter saying she's retiring. Are you in the Charlotte NC area by chance?
Nope...central PA
I just wish there was another female doctor.....it just stinks since I don't have a "choice!"
I had a male Dr. w/ my DD. I called for an appointment w/ him earlier this week and he left the previous practice and isn't taking new OB patients with the new practice yet, since he's travelling around to numerous clinics. I though I was in luck of being within walking distance from work for 1 of the offices.
With my DD, I only saw Dr. and nurse practitioner w/ his prior office. I'm going to be seen at the prior office with a different Dr. There are both male & female Drs. that I can choose from.
Interesting... I'm also in Central PA. I went to a larger practice with about 50/50 male and female doctors (and a couple female midwives). I am going back to them as I always felt comfortable with them and thought I received good care.
Same experience here. One really good male doctor, one really bad (inappropriate) male doctor. Just depends. I am having a female doc this time.
I have always had female doctors up until now - when I got "stuck" with a male doctor because it was the only appointment I could without a big drive.
I love him. He's way more gentle than any female doctor I've ever been to. We are actually moving and so I have to switch and it's breaking me up! I will be searching for another male doctor just because this experience has been so good.
