Care to share your nursery pics?

We JUST -- moments ago -- got a new apartment.  Deposit is set, etc.  We're moving from a one-bedroom to a two-bedroom -- so the boys get a room!!!

I'm mostly thinking about organization.  We're mild decorators, mostly w/ color schemes and not themes, and I'll add owl details.  We can't paint.  But I'd like to see twin+ nursery set-ups, closet organization, etc.

Thanks!! :)

Re: Care to share your nursery pics?

  • Congrats on your new apartment Ninja!  We purchased bedding from Restoration Hardware-they have some cute non themed stuff and I think they have a sale going on right now.  I could be wrong though.

We are just using a small closet for their clothes.  I installed a second rack in it so each baby has a rod in the closet-one above the other.  I got the small clear plastic shoe boxes from target and put those in the drawers in the changing table to put onesies.

We also have a chest of drawers where each baby has three drawers to put socks, pj's etc.

Honestly we never used our changing table.  We always just changed them on the floor.

Is that the Koala thing at BRU?  We registered for the main part but I see they have a whole set, too.  We may do that....

Thanks, guys!!  This is really helpful.  We know we want a dresser that can work as a changer -- I like the thought of a surface just for that -- but I don't know how much storage stuff we'll need.  Peakay's picture makes me think, a LOT! :)

  • yeah, all the stuff in the closet is from BRU (the koala brand). and i wasn't going to use a changing table, but a friend gave it to us, and i'm really glad we had it. we were going to put a changing pad on the bookcase (the cubicles) but i'm glad we didn't have to.

I love the wall color! I know it's been a day to two Wink but do you remember the name of the color? It looks like such a fun gender neutral color, but not muted like all the ones we keep picking out.

  • I'm not sure what her pea-kay's color name was, but funny enough my DH and I ended up with a very similiar looking nursery that we pulled together this summer while I was growing the twins. The color we chose was from the Behr Disney line at Home Depot. I can't remember the exact name, but it's very close to the color in the picture in the PP's and the Disney line has a ton of great choices for bright colors that aren't too overwhelming. Check it out if want and remember to go for a color that's little more bold than think you actually want. I was scared initially by the color choice until it was on the walls, and now I love it!

  • Last time I was in BRU (last week) the Koala line was on sale. Not sure if it was just my store or not. It wasn't on sale online. Sign up for babies r'us rewards card--the emails come every day or so, but sometimes you get some great deals. Plus don't forget they offer a twin discount of 10% when you buy two of anything the same. At the end of the year or quarter, not sure which, you'll get BRU bucks, and we got $35 last week, not too bad. So giving up your precious email address is worth it in the long run.

Our nursery is a super pale sage color (boy girl twins) with the girls crib set being "Daniella" by CocaLa. It wasn't cheap ($160 on sale from $199) but I kept coming back to it and it was my favorite. We found the boys set at Burlington Coat Factory, a store I personally loathe because it's like a garage sale...for about $90. We bought the floor model and the sales lady couldn't find one in a box, so we got an extra 20% off. Also, it included the bumper, which usually doesn't come in the kits. The set is Carters and has Owls/Portcupines/Fall Leave Trees on it patchwork style. It's very subtle and not jungle-ish which I like.

I have trouble posting pics on here. They post to my profile and not the actual forum, so I'm sorry I can't share photos of our nursery. We also went to a junk store and scored a chandelier for just $100! DH wired it and it looks really great. I'm trying to be fair and not make things too girly for our boy, but the girl stuff is just so darn cute!:) Good Luck with your nursery.

P.S. We moved into a 2 bedroom house and they said 'no painting' too, but we used really subtle colors and they approved them. It really makes a big difference to have a little color on the walls and not all white-walled rental-ish.

  • Mine is still in progress, but my parents helped ALOT over Christmas, and it's coming along.  I LOVE it so far.  We're having girls, and doing an enchanted forest theme.

  • Wow, thanks, guys!!!

So I'm taking this away from all that:

-- our instinct about a dresser/changer was correct -- even if we need more dressers space later it's a good start.

-- closet organizers are a MUST!

-- I really like the look of the 2 cribs w the dresser/changer in between.

Thanks so much!!  You all rock :)

I just thought I'd point out that having furniture that close to the cribs can be a climbing/injury risk down the road.  It hasn't posed a problem for us as my kids have shown no interest in getting out of their cribs, but I have an alternative furniture plan in mind if it starts to look like an issue.  It's something you might want to keep in mind as well.

Definitely a good point.  We probably won't be in this apartment when they get to that point, but everything is negotiable and rearrangeable!! :)
