Onesies: Wrap/Side Snap or Regular??

I've been checking out some stuff for my registry and just discovered the onesies that don't have to go over the babies head.  They either wrap or snap on the sides.  Anyone have an opinion or experience with one or both?  Not having to pull clothes over the babies head seems to make sense but I'm not sure if it really matters.

  • I could never get the wrap onesies (with the ties) to stay on, or tied.  They were a pain in the butt for me.

Honestly, you get used to the over the head ones pretty quickly.

  • I used both and didn't have a preference for either. I'd put both on there. You're going to need a LOT of onesies, lol. Sometimes, you'll just go, "Oh, ewwww" and into the trash it goes.
  • I'm planning on picking up some of both - I've heard from some moms that the side-wrap onesies (with either the snaps or the ties) are easier for the first few weeks, and other moms have said it doesnt really make a difference and they preferred the over-the-head ones.  I figure I'll see which ones I like better...

  • I had some of both in the newborn and 0-3 month size.  Just cause you think they are so fragile at first but then you figure it out and the ones that go over the head are not so scary.  Plus the side snap ones are never as cute.
  • I didn't like the wrap ones.  I liked the ones that had a big neck opening or snaps at the neck.

  • The side/snap wrap ones wer such a pain! I remember that and took them out of DS's clothes to send to goodwill because I didn't like them.

  • I mostly used sleepers in the first few weeks anyway and those don't go over the head. By the time I was using onesies, the baby was a little bigger.

  • I used the gowns with the elastic bottoms for the first few weeks.  It was great for while you are waiting for the cord to fall off, etc. They are in the layette section with the onsies and they make them for boys and girls.

These were especially great when our DD was in the NICU, because the wires for the monitors could come out the bottom and they didn't get snagged on anything.

  • The side wrap ones suck. Plus, don't buy ANY baby t-shirts that side wrap. They slide up to their armpits and don't help keep baby warm.

Normal onesies or ones with snaps buy the neck.

I also used the sleeper gowns when DS was 1st born.
