Dansko

Anyone have a pair? Do you put them in a category in which Crocs and Uggs would be in?

I liked the idea of the slip on comfort, both hairdressers at my salon wear them and rave about what they do for their backs. I also saw almost every nurse wearing them when I was at the hospital this summer.

Would they be pointless, $$$ shoes for a SAHM. Would you wear them as a casual shoe or do they look too "work shoe"?

Re: Dansko

  • My college friends (who were all nursing students) had them and loved them, and I thought they looked cute with a pair of jeans. I bought myself a pair when I was working at the grocery store and spent my time running around a lot, but I wore them once and had blisters on my blisters. I don't know if it just takes a while to break in or I got the wrong style for me, but they were awful. That said, I think a comfy pair of shoes is worth it, SAHM or not.

  • I have worn them almost daily for 4 years. they are my work shoes.   I also wear them as my everyday slip on shoes.  I actually don't own sneakers so my dansko's are my go to shoes.  My feet haven't hurt in 4 years after walking around for 9 hours a day.  I absolutely love them.  They fit your foot differently then regular shoes so that is why I wear them so much.  It is hard for me to go back to other shoes.  Your toe isnt supposed to touch the front and your heel isn't supposed to touch the back.  the support is really firm.  If you buy them make sure you have them fitted.  The salesman brought me out 3 pairs to try on and I had to take 1 shoe from 2 different boxes b/c they fit differently even though they were the same size.

They make really cute boots and colored clogs.

  • I wouldn't see the point of wearing them as a SAHM, honestly.. A few of my coworkers wear them and some love them (others have hated them). I have tried them on a few times and it feels like I'm wearing bricks on my feet. I just don't get it.  They have some cute styles, but I am kind of a sneaker girl.

  • I have flat feet and this topic came up at the hairdresser, they said they are amazing for that.

I wear slipper all day and I know there is no support to them, I wonder if I would wear a shoe instead. I can see why they would be pointless for me. I wouldn't wear them with anything but pants, and I wouldn't wear them in snow/slush.....so where I am going? lol I might try a pair on next time I am at the mall, just to see.

  • If you just try them on you will hate them.  They take a few days to get used to.  They aren't very comfortable to try on.  It's hard to explain.  I would look for a store that would take them back no matter what.  REI has the best return policy and i returned a pair of dansko boots that i wore twice but they were just too narrow for me.  REI took them back 9 months later no questions asked
  • I have a pair and swear by them, but I work as a nurse and am on my feet all day. Not sure that I would spend the money on them otherwise. If you go for it, buy them from a store- not online. Each pair is hand stitched and sizing may vary slightly from pair to pair. They do take some getting used to, but are really super comfortable.

  • I have a pair I wear at work, but I don't like them. The only reason I held onto them was bc I knew once it got hard to reach my feet during this pregnancy I would want them. My main problem is they don't breathe. My feet feel hot and sweaty all day. I much prefer to wear sneakers, even though yes the danskos are more padded for being on my feet all day. (and sneakers are against dress code, but never enforced). Now that I am done working while pregnant, my danskos are in the donate pile.
