Beco Gemini vs ergo

So I use my ring sling quite a bit still but would like to invest in another carrier. I think I have dwindled it down to these two. Beside the gemini being able to face out and the ergo not being able to what are the big differences. What made you choose one over the other?

Re: Beco Gemini vs ergo

  • I chose the Ergo b/c I had a coupon for buy buy baby that I couldn't turn down, but I think if money didn't matter, I would have gotten the Gemini-- I wish the ergo came up higher and facing out would be VERY helpful!

  • got the gemini because I wanted the facing out option . I also do not find the insert in the butterfly a plus for getting DD on my back as it is easy enough with the gemini. The butterfly insert also seemed like a disadvantage to me for if I wanted to nurse DD or our future LO down the road. Both are great. I think you just have to look at your preferences. I love our gemini.
  • So hard to choose!

  • ....annnnnd you said ergo, not butterfly. lol I looked into Ergo too. Like I said I wanted the option to face out. Also since we plan to use it again the infant insert seemed like s pain....it looked bulky and was an extra expense. the gemini fits a 7lb baby well without the extra insert.

  • have you gone on thebabywearer.com and read up on them? that helped me.
  • No experience with the ergo but I have the Beco gemini and I absolutely love it.  It's supportive and C likes being in it.

  • my most recent blog post is actually on my gemini.
  • I have checked out thebabywearer.com. Thanks for the input. I definitely want something I can nurse in easily but am not too worried about the insert because I loved the sling when lo was smaller.

  • I had both at one point, and I do not have the Ergo anymore.  Granted, I wish I would not have gotten rid of it, but, I do like the Gemini more.  I like the facing out option and I think I will love the side option (haven't tried it yet).  I also am not a huge fan of facing him out, he throughs his head back into my chest and it hurts.

Maybe check to see if you have a local babywearing club and sometimes they have lending libraries where you could try them out.  Also if you have a once upon a child nearby, they have Ergo's (at least the one by me does) and you could go in and try one out there.

  • I have the ergo because I got a killer deal on it. Otherwise I would get the Gemini. Now that lo is older I wish he could face out....
