Allergic reaction and milk coming in

Just sharing two things I've learned this time in hopes I can help someone else. You can have an allergic reaction to adhesives/steri strips. The result is swelling and blisters. Super uncomfy. And after a c-section, it can take up to 90 hours for your milk to come in. It only took about 60 for me, but that was ROUGH. Large, hungry boy + only colostrum + powerful sucking reflex= shredded nipples. Lanolin, soothies gel pads, and frozen diapers are lifesavers.

  • EEK, sorry to hear that on both accounts :(

I need to buy some gel pads. DH and I saw them at the store yesterday and he was amazed that they existed. I sort of wish I could be so oblivious about it all!

  • I'm allergic to the tape as well. What did they do instead when they found out you were allergic?  I am going to talk to my doctor about it on Friday. I actually forgot about my allergy (it is kind of recent) so I'm a little worried.

Unfortunately we didn't know until it was too late. Everything is removed and I'm treating the blisters. Won't make that mistake again! I'm sure they have something hypoallergenic for you.
