kawaii issues - outer button leaving rash on lo's leg

my lo is almost 19 months and I have been using kawaiis the whole time with no issues, but now there is a red mark on his leg and we discovered that it is from one of the lower buttons on the outside of the diaper.  It digs into his leg and flips over, leaving a button rash.  I have been covering this spot with cut up cloth wipes and it helps, but I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and how to prevent it.  The diaper is not too tight or too loose, it just folds over onto his thigh all of a sudden right where the button is.

I guess you could buy some snaps and snap them onto the open buttons..KWIM?

Is he on the longest rise? I would play with the rise since this was not an issue before.
