Shaving??

How long did you wait after delivery to shave your legs?

I stand up to shave but Im nervous about getting shaving cream in the incision. My legs are hairy though!

  • Spa Breeze razors with the shaving cream strip might be an option - no separate shaving cream.  I was able to shave about 2 weeks after as long as I balanced really carefully.

  • I still haven't but that's because I usually have a two year old in the shower with me or I'm rushing to get through because the baby is crying.  Oh, and anytime that doesn't happen I'm just plain lazy.  I also don't shave above my knees because I don't need to so really don't need to worry about shaving cream getting in the incision if I would.

  • I do all my shaving in the bath tub rather than shower. I have taken a few sitz baths which are  just a few inches deep and don't reach my incision line. I have thought about shaving then but haven't been too bothered to actually take the time for it.
Edited because I am an English teacher and that's what we do.

  • If your incision is completely closed, just wash off any shave cream that gets on it. You will not hurt it if it is closed. Also, maybe try sitting on tubside if you have one or ask dh/so for help.

  • I shaved my legs at 8 days, that was the soonest I could comfortably get down to my feet. I haven't done much other grooming because I still have all of my steri strips.

  • shaving...what's that? Early on it was a very good day just to get a shower so I didn't even worry about shaving. I'm probably missing the obvious, but how do you get shave cream on your incision if you are shaving your legs?

  • I shaved my legs when I showered in the hospital. I did wait a lot longer to shave my incision. I think it was 4 or 5 weeks

  • try using hair conditioner instead of shaving cream. It conditions the skin, provides good lubrication and is less irritable to your incision than shaving cream would be. I only shave my bikini area with conditioner and I was able to do so (very very very carefully) about 3 wks pp.

  • I shaved during my first shower at the hospital. I use soap to shave with and I didn't have any problems.

I did the exact same thing. Venus Razors are the best for post-baby care (not to be confused with the Venus Embrace razors).

  • My poor hubby, I get major ingrown hairs so I didn't shave anything below my belly button for about 3 weeks just because I never had the time/energy to care for the ingrown hairs...I didn't shave my incision for 8 weeks.  It was gross but I shaved from like a 1/2 below and lower Embarrassed just because I felt so disgusting.

  • I started shaving during my second day at the hospital. I just shaved whatever i could reach using that mild hospital soap. Don't worry about incision. They pumped me so full of antibiotics all i had to worry about was feeling human, and trust me shaving will make you feel more human especially since I owned nothing high waisted so skirts and dresses were all i could wear.
