Recently learned that we are team PINK and are narrowing down a name. Lillian is a family name, and we would likely NOT call her Lilly. Lillian is our front-runner but I'm concerned about it's popularity...Thanks in advance!
I love all of them! Josephine nn Josie is on our list for girls. But I voted for Lillian because of the family attachment and it really is a lovely name. I knew an old woman who had no problem going only by Lillian for 80+ years so I think it's quite doable.
I absolutely LOVE the name Cora. It's one of my favorite girl names ever.
I also love the name Lillian, especially since you guys would not be using Lily, but the name is, in fact, very, very popular. Would you be okay with your Lillian being Lillian G in a class with a Lillian C and a Lilly B? If you would, then use it. It's a beautiful name.
I do not like Josephine or Josie at all. I think it's a very harsh-sounding name, and I do not think it's attractive. I know I am in the minority here, but I just don't like it.
GL to you!

Lillian is one of our top choices for a girl (we won't use Lilly either). Cora is very sweet sounding, and it doesn't seem like it's incredibly popular. I like Josephine, but my super white trash cousin named her daughter Josie (not short for anything), and every time I say the name in my head, I hear it with her redneck drawl. If it weren't for that, I'd probably think it was cute.
Just a quick mention on names that have possible nn's. My name is Nicole, my mom loves the name and swore that I would never go by a nn. Guess what? Only a couple months after I was born people started calling me the inevitable Nikki. Mom changed the spelling to Nici (as her logic was, there is no "k" in Nicole). No matter the spelling, I have always had a nn. So my advice is, if you don't want your daughter to have a nn, don't name her something that has one. If you're ok with other people calling her Lily, even if you don't, then go for it.
That being said, I do love all of your name choices. My favorite is Josephine!
Thanks for all of the input! I know I won't be able to control what others call her, and I don't mind the nn Lilly. I just prefer Lillian, partially because it seems to be less popular than Lilly. I think we're now between Lillian and Cora. I'd also appreciate any suggestions for other names with similar styles.
Cora's my favourite. I feel like even if you told people her name was Lillian, she'd end up getting called Lily by a lot of people (especially when she starts school) I just think Cora is so cute and spunky. I'm not sold on the whole Josephine trend that's going on right now.
I like all three. I couldn't decide. Lillian is nice because it's just far enough off Lily, which is extremely popular at the moment. Of course, you can always ask ppl to not call her Lily. Lil is a cute nn.
Cora is different. Makes me think of chef Cat Cora.
Josphine is my cat's given name, but I've always called her Joey (she was not named for the character of Dawson's Creek, before someone asks....)
