what is up with mustaches?

Did I miss something? I see fake mustache stuff all over pinterest.  A bunch of people have them on NYE pictures.  Why are they so popular?

    It's a photography fad. Same with "dork glasses" ...pinterest is a huge source for photographers to get inspiration for posing and props so that is a BIG amount of the pinning that is going on.
