Maya for 2012 baby?

Do you think Maya is going to be a big girl name for 2012? Someone mentioned it awhile ago and I laughed about it and didn't take it seriously, but I am coming to love it. My husband thinks it will be big what with the Mayan calendar ending and all of that.. I really want our girl name to be Maya Elizabeth. Love it? Hate it? Indifferent?

I love the name Maya! I wanted to put it on our list but my friend ended up naming her baby Mya and then two of our cousin's (one on my side, and one on SO's side)....both got husky puppies about 6 months apart and named them both Maya. So it was taken off our list.

I hadn't thought about the relation between the name and 2012 but you might be onto something with your reasoning

My neighbor's baby is named Maia Elizabeth (spelled this way), I know a Maya Brielle and I have heard of 2-3 other Mayas under 1.  I predict it will be quite popular.  You could do Amaya Elizabeth for something more unique if popularity bothers you.

Maya for the Mayan calendar could make it popular, not sure though. I say use it if you like it!!

well as you can see by my siggy, that is the exact.same.name. that we've chosen if our baby is a girl.  i don't know any Maya's.  some ppl want me to spell it Mya or Maia, but Maya looks right to me.  i had a dream, before i was pg, and in the dream i had a beautiful little girl and i introduced her to a lady at the grocery store as Maya.  Elizabeth comes from my BFF, it is her middle name.
