What to do about congestion?

the kid is super stopped up and has been choking on his own post-nasal drip. we've been running the humidifier at night, spraying saline solution up his nose and sucking it out. we even sat in the bathroom after running a hot shower so he could breathe in the steam. 

he's not running a fever, and i suspect it's allergies since both me and DH are stopped up with allergies right now. 1) what else can i do? he sounds so pathetic when he starts trying to cough up the mucous. 2) is he allowed to go to daycare like this if he's fever-free?

I think you're doing pretty much all you can.

You can also try rubbing a little Baby Vicks VapoRub on the bottom of his feet. Use this instead of the regular kind. It has rosemary, lavender, and eucalyptus oil instead of camphor and menthol (they can be really strong and overwhelming.)

good tip. thanks! i was trying to figure out how to use vaporub and had tried putting it on my own chest and then a shirt on top while holding him. it just made me feel sticky.
