This has been my guilty pleasure name for a girl for a while... Now I'm seriously considering using it for my little girl... Last name starts with an R, 3 syllables ... Opinions??
Teagan is on of my guilty pleasure names too but I can't use it because my SIL has a little boy named Teagan. I say that if you like it, GO FOR IT! I think it is one of those names that people love but are too afraid to use.
I have a niece named Teagan and I will admit that it took awhile to grow on me, but now I love it. Teague was my sister's (and my) maiden name so it was used as a twist on the Irish family name.
I love it! My God daughter just turned 5 and her name is Teagan Kathleen. When my friend came up with this name while pregnant, I'll admit I did side eye her a bit. But the name really fit her, as a baby, toddler and child, and gives her a strong name for the teenage years and adult hood. Bonus points for it being a real name with a cultural background.
I've known a Teagan for a few years now through a mutual friend, and every time I hear her name its like nails on a chalk board to me. The name to me sounds like its trying very hard to be unique and cool but it just isn't. I just don't like the flow of the name, it sounds like a last name to me. It is however becoming very popular because I have seen it pop up quite a bit lately on a few boards. Sorry, this sounds harsh but its my honest opinion.
Love it, obviously! We know a few other Teagans, a few over 20, but most school age. I only know one male Teagan, I've always found it strange on a boy. It's definately not a last name, and I giggle at it being a shoe, that means it's becoming more common (I wouldn't care about that, who remembers what their shoe was named). We paired Teagan with a much less common Welsh name (and I realise we've used the Irish spelling); Teagan Eleri.
What was nice about how this name grow up with a girl, is after seeing it on the older Teagans, they were both quiet, good natured, and into the arts, which is what my Teagan is!
Re: Teagan ...
I don't care for the name. It is some weird cross of Reagan and another name...even though I think it's pronounced tee-gin (with a hard /g/ sound).
It's just not my style, sorry!
