Burn from a diaper?

Drew but looks horrid. It's SO red, bumpy and super hot to the touch and the red follows the shape of his diaper. It looks like a burn almost. I know that people were having problems with Pampers, but these are Huggies (but they are the first time he has even worn them)

Re: Burn from a diaper?

  • That's what both of my kids got from Pampers and Luvs.

I'd go back to your regular brand and see if it goes away. If not, try Lotrimin because it might be yeast. Yeast rashes are also screaming red and bumpy.

  • A had a horrible reaction to the old Target diapers. It was nightmarish and he was miserable. It went away once I switched back.

  • DS got a really bad rash from Huggies diapers.  Not even as a baby, but at like 2 we tried them once as we were travelling and didn't have anything else.  Within 30 minutes his butt was red and hot.  DH ran right out to the local grocery store and bought something else.

  • My DD gets this from any diaper with a lot of ink.  The pediatrician suggested avoiding any brand with a lot of cartoons or colors.  We use Target and Seventh Generation without problems, but had to give away Pampers after using only one, it was so bad, and another brand I can't remember.

This. Plus every brand of pull ups that opens on the side (but none of the ones without side opening).

  • That's exactly how I'd describe the burn we got from babydry. Lots of Vaseline and switch back to whatever worked before.
  • DD got a rash like that from Luvs but it was because my grandmother didn't know the proper way to check a wet disposable. We used pure cornstarch with desitin and it worked really well within a few days.
