I am super impressed with people that are able to co share rooms with their LO still. Ours has been in her own room since about 2.5 months, and after getting back from vacation with her where we had to share a room, made me amazed that people were still able to.
My daughter wakes up at ANY noise apparently. So going to the bathroom in the middle of the night woke her up. Coughing woke her. Getting into the bed woke her. And of course, after she was awake--she was awake for a good 20-30 minutes before settling back down.
Even at home when we walk past her room, if the floorboards creak a lot of times she will start to wake up.
I am just impressed that people can still share rooms for their LO's--unless mine is just a REALLY light sleeper.
Re: Light Sleepers
What white noise machine do you have?
I am seriously thinking about getting one for her.
Right now she is napping with my husband in our bed--it is their weekend tradition
(And my husband is such a still sleeper, it doesn't bother me anymore. Plus she is crawling and rolling like their is no tomorrow-so my worries have dissipated. ) But I can't even open the door to our bedroom in fear of waking her.
We use this one for every nap and for the whole night. It's a lifesaver for us because of how lightly she sleeps. We laugh because if we ever have to wake her up, all we have to do is turn it off and her eyes pop open.
This exactly.
ETA: My family was always gung-ho from the beginning that I need to get DS used to sleeping with household noise, but he would always wake up. They still get on my case about it, but I figure that's just who he is - it's working for us to use white noise, so I don't see a point in stopping now.
I think it just depends on the baby. DS sleeps right next to our bed and never wakes up at noises, only when he's pissed that his binky fell out or that he realized he's on his stomach (he hates his stomach!! and cries instead of rolling over even though he's perfectly capable).
I think it's funny that I put so much work into the nursery and we never use it. DS's clothes are in there and that's it!
