How accurate do you think this is in terms of predicting real baby name trends? The vast majority of these names are beautiful... do nameberry users just have good taste?

I agree that this is a very good list! A lot of these are too popular for my taste, but I was pleasantly surprised that many of them still feel "underused" to me

I think it's accurate for people "like us". Name nerds who spend time trolling websites for inspiration. The general population probably doesn't look for inspiration on the internet (like I do, both on here and on Nameberry). So I don't think it will be an accurate list of names you see in a classroom. But I would guess it would be pretty accurate for the names you would see on this board.
I think it's just based on their users, a lot like this board. I do not think Katniss will break the top 100 at all. They are not necessarily the top 100 used names, just most talked about/liked?

Someone on the May 2012 board just posted about Huffington Post's top name predications for 2012, and these lists are identical, so something is screwy.

Huffington Post always reproduces nameberry's articles/blog posts. If you go on the nameberry home page and scroll down, there is a 'nameberry in the news' section, and the huffington post articles are linked. I'm pretty sure the HP article cites either NB or the specific NB author that wrote it originally.
Anyhow, no I don't think this will represent the actual population or the actual top 100. The list is based off the most viewed names on their site, which like Hannah said, is for the most part used by name nerds. I love nameberry, gives me such good ideas!
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.

I agree. DS's name was #94 on the boys list, I don't see it reaching the SSA top 100. Who knows though, maybe one day? Nameberry has completely changed the way I look at names.
Us poor name nerds....goodness help us. My husband just shakes his head anymore when i talk about names.
P.S. did anyone see at the bottom where is said "for a signed copy of our book Beyond Ava and Aiden"? Love it! That's a good title for a baby book.
I bought this book because of the title. It was no help to me, it just listed names by group, like the site. I was hoping for meaning/origin along with the name atleast...
