This is breaking my heart

My DD is screaming on top of her lungs right now wanting me. All I am doing is trying really hard on staying on the living room couch. I know it gets better each night but it hurts so much hearing her.

Stay strong! It gets better. I know how hard it is to listen to but she'll be ok.

You will be so happy you did this when you have a giggly, well-slept baby in the mornings & througout the day.
  • Thanks, my dh thinks I can hold out. Question, was the first night rough with them waking up through out the night.

  • Yes, it was. The first night it took him nearly 2 hours to fall asleep and when he did, he woke up 45 minutes later. However, it only took him about 30 minutes to fall back asleep when he woke up. I believe he woke up about 5 times, but that was normal for him anyway.

The second night was somewhat easier; it took him about 1 hour to fall asleep and he only woke up about 3-4 times.
The third was dramatically easier. He fell asleep within 15 minutes & only woke once all night.

    HTH & GL!
  • It is so, so hard to hear them cry, but some kids (mine included) really do need to be taught how to sleep and in a couple days, your little one will be better rested and happier as a result. The key is consistency, so stay strong, sister!

  • I'm sorry Sad

I am in the same boat right now actually.  She was doing so good the past week or so with going to bed initally but tonight we had to go grocery shopping so her schedule is a bit off. :(

Just to give you a little ray of hope, my older son was really stubborn, but once he finally learned to sleep, he became an excellent sleeper and still is to this very day. He went from being a miserable cranky mess because he was always exhausted to being a pleasant well rested kid.

  • Are you doing Ferber where you go in and check, or are you not going in at all? I'm on night 1 of Ferber, but felt like he got more upset when we went in. I almost feel like it would've been better if we hadn't gone in. Please let me know how you are doing this for when they wake in the middle of the night! Thanks!

I am on night 1 as well of Ferber. We started during naps today doing it. My daughter was the same way she got more upset when I went in. But I still went in to let her know that i was there and she was not alone. In the middle of the night you start over on the counts in between. When she woke up after ten min of sleep. I gave her 3 min of crying then I went in. Then told her that I love her and walked out and waited the five min. then ten...The book says to do this each time they wake up which what day you are on.
