Any company that usually pays for holidays need to have a paid holiday day off so since the holiday is on Sunday they used Monday as their paid holiday day off.
I don't blame them for asking if you will be bringing in the kids, since many parents may be keeping kids home. But it bothers me (on your behalf) that they said "since Monday is an official holiday"... hoping to skew your answer? There is no "official" holiday related to January 2nd, just that many are recognizing the paid "official" holiday of January 1 on Jan 2 since Jan 1 falls on a Sunday this year.
Fortunate to be a SAHM to my 3 musketeers (5/2006, 5/2010 & 12/2011).
Soy & dairy free for the 3rd and final time.
I'd like to know what their definition is of "official" holiday. It is a federal holiday, and it's a state holiday in my state. But it's not a school holiday for my DS, and DD's daycare is opened.
I was irritated too, which is why I asked. it's not a big deal because DH is home, but it wasn't listed as a holiday on the sheet she sends home at the beginning of the year. She's an in-home daycare and has a few moms who work for the government. She said that she's had lots of moms call to say 'see you Tuesday' so she was debating whether or not to open. Made it seem like my kids would be the only ones there so I said we'd keep the kids home. I wouldn't want them to go if they would be the only ones there anyway...that's no fun, but they are ready to go back!!!
