Anyone else with low platelets AND low potassium?

I had gestational thrombocytopenia (low platelets) with my first too...but I just received a call that this time around I also have hypokalemia (low potassium).  Still going for my weekly lab work at my ob's office and as of now nothing is in the range that is cause for alarm, but they're both low and dropping...  Anyone else?

Re: Anyone else with low platelets AND low potassium?

  • I have ITP of pregnancy. But my potassium levels are normal. Did they say how low your potassium levels are? I have to see a hematologist once a week for my ITP.

  • They just said two bananas a day should address it (wish I liked bananas!  Lol).  I go back on Tuesday and I'll talk to the dr then...I was more concerned about my platelets since this is how I started with my daughter, when I wound up with advanced HELLP syndrome and a nightmare of a delivery.

  • There are plenty of foods higher in potassium then bananas. If you don't like bananas there are plenty of other foods that have potassium in it. My first thought was great I'm going to have HELLP too, but I felt better after I saw my hematologist and he told me this isn't uncommon! Good luck with everything.

Here is a website with other foods that have a good amount of potassium in them. Or if you google Foods high in potassium you can get some other ideas!  Sorry I suck at making things clicky so it may not be clicky
