Parenting after a Loss

Do you cry when you look at your LO?

It might still be PP hormones, but I cry at least once a day when I look at DD. I just can't believe she is here and mine. I have wanted her for SOO long, and now she is here and I cannot imagine loving anything or anyone more.

Am I the only one that still does this?

Re: Do you cry when you look at your LO?

  • No.

But I'm not a weepy person by nature.

Honestly, I cried more from exhaustion than anything else the first year...

  • Yep. Not everyday, but a lot, especially considering I am not a big crier. I also cry at every single cute baby commercial, at the part of Baby Story where they put the baby in the mom's arms, I cried when my BFF told me she was pregnant. It's a big emotional thing, and I'm sure I've still got hormones out of whack in there.

  • I don't cry when I look at DS, but I am definitely extremely attached!  I miss him when he is napping. I am going to a mess when he starts day-care.  I do get a little teary when I see DH playing with DS.

This. Watching DH with him still gets me. And DS often makes me want to cry for non-cute and fuzzy reasons (like when he screams for a few hours nonstop).

  • On occasion, yes. :)

But most of the time its tears of frustration when she won't go to sleep.  Nap times have been hell this week.

  • Yep.  All.the.time.  I couldn't sleep last night because I was just laying there thinking about how lucky I am to have him here and how different life was before.

  • I do when I think about how I'm going to have to go back to work in a couple of weeks, and DS will be spending most of his daytime hours with a sitter. :(  I'm finding myself getting jealous of SAHMs and moms who work part time.

I sing this every day to my LO and well up every time! I have been singing it to him since I found out I was pregnant! I love how he is starting to smile when I sing it to him... I like to think he remembering hearing it as soon as he could start hearing mommy's voice... *tears*

  • I do.

So does Dh but not everyday. Maybe once a week when N is staring at him while holding his finger. Just don't tell anyone! Dh is a big tough guy :)

  • Yes. Now it's just because she keeps getting bigger. I also cried when she refused to nurse before bed. This Mommyhood thing sure is emotional!
