Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Can you get away w/one stroller?

HI ladies,

I'm helping my SIL organize her registry. I have 3 kids (9mos  - 4yrs) but it's so hard to help someone else register b/c you know there's so many different ways to take care of your kid.

My SIL thinks she will be able to get away w/just having a BOB stroller. I'm cringing b/c I feel like that stroller is huge, doesn't make sense for the first 6 mos when you really need it.  I know you can have the car seat attachment, but I think each stroller has its pros/cons. BOB is huge for storing and putting in car too.

What stroller could she get away with owning only one?

  • We just have a City Mini & don't plan on getting anything else!

  • I know that I wanted the BOB so bad and i ended up getting a Safety 1st travel system and the BOB. My son is 7 months old and we still have not used the BOB. I'm really hoping we do soon because it cost a lot of money and it just sits in our apartment. Luckily we have a large nursery so we have a stroller parking area! =) The bob just isn't practical for all the time use. It's huge. It will be great when we are out camping or when we go to the beach but really I could have just made the regular stroller work.

  • I really like my snap n go - my baby is still in his infant seat, so I still use it a bit.

Other than that, I could have no stroller. I'm hooked on baby carriers. Stick out tongue

  • I think it depends on how she plans to use it. BOB makes great strollers for running and hiking but it's a little big for navigating city streets and it doesn't have a newborn bassinet. I love my Bugaboo because I think it handles well on city streets and allows the baby to face you or away from you; the base also works great with our car seat. I also have a City Mini which is okay (it was a gift) but what I really need is a lightweight umbrella stroller for public transportation and traveling.

  • We've been just fine with nothing but the snap and go for the carseat.

  • I think it depends on where she lives or what she plans on doing.  I have the snap n go which is AWESOME.  Then I got the citi micro for mall/shopping outings, and finally we got a citi elite since we live by a lot of trails.  I wouldn't want to use the mini or micro on the trails since it can be bumpy.  So, once DD is out of the infant seat, we will have just 2.

Ditto here! We have zero strollers so two or more sounds like a fleet!

  • It depends on where you live I guess.  I personally started out in a snap n go because when they are young they just sleep constantly, so it was nive to not have to disturb her.  Then I bought a jogging stroller because we live on a gravel road and my snap n go wasn't very good on he pebbles.  Now I mostly wear her  when I'm out so the strollers just sit collecting dust.

  • I personally couldn't get away with only one. Luckily umbrella strollers are relatively cheap.  I have my big bulky stroller for longer trips, country walks, etc. And my umbrella for trips to the mall with friends, when 2 strollers wont fit in the trunk.

  • We have a BOB and it hangs out in our guest room. I dust it often waiting for the day we can actually use it. We have been using the snap and go since birth and love it. It is so easy. We plan on using the BOB in the spring, summer etc once running weather returns.

If they are stroller people, IMHO she will regret only having the BOB. She sounds a lot like me pre-baby, and boy was I naive!

  • DD's grandparents splurged on an Orbit stroller and it's our only one. I love it. The seat turns in every direction and it's great for hikes or just strolling through the mall.

  • We have a BOB and use it every where. We take it to Babies R Us, the mall, hiking... etc. We have run in to other parents at the hospital with their BOB and Target too! I LOVE my BOB and would never buy another stroller... one thing I will say though is it does matter what model you get. We have the 2010 Revolution and its a bit slimmer and lighter so its really no big thing to get in and out of the car. I have heard that other models are bulkier.

This. Awesome stroller. I do wear her in the ergo more though.

  • We bought a Graco travel system, and were fine with it until we needed a double stroller. A friend gave us a Baby Trend jogging stroller, and it's sat untouched in my storage room the entire time. As long as it can take an infant seat, or fully recline to accommodate a newborn, I wouldn't waste money on a second stroller.
