Snack Suggestions

What snacks are you planning to have around the house after the baby comes?  We've froze some meals, but I'm struggling with healthy snacks because since the 1st Tri I'm still disgusted by my pre-prego healthy snacks (nuts, cottage cheese, yogert, humus).  Any ideas for easy snacks to encourage better eating?

Re: Snack Suggestions

  • Hard to say not knowing what you like....Luna bars?   Apples, protein shakes, greek yogurt with berries, etc are what I have around now and will PP...Hopefully you'll get a taste back for some of the things you used to like, I'd keep it simple and easy whatever you do

  • Maybe you should wait until you give birth, who knows, maybe you will want nuts, cottage cheese etc., again.Which are btw great snacks!

Just make a list and send someone to grocery shop for you:)

  • We live near a produce delivery place, so I plan to set up some deliveries soon after we get back. Otherwise I hope to have some carrots, celery, grapes, apple slices around since they are good to snack on. Same with yogurt, chips, cookies...

  • It all depends on what you find that you like.

I'm kind of back to my 1st tri tummy issues, where I don't really want to eat anything that's warm or hot. I plan to keep stocked up on clemintines, apples, bananas, and cereal. Fruit is so easy for me, especially bananas. No washing, just quick peel & devour.

I also like Luna bars. They have a lot of protein and fiber, and awesome to grab and go.   I bought a huge pack of them at Sam's Club, and I plan to keep a few next to the glider for snacking on while nursing.

I also have a stock of reduced fat Wheat Thins for when I'm craving something salty & crunchy.  They make a ton of different fancy flavors too, I'm too plain-jane for that tho :)

  • The lactation consultant suggested to have lots of grazing snacks available. Especially the first couple of weeks. Something easy to just grab out of the fridge that requires little to no prep work. I will stick to Greek yogurt, fruits, some egg salad, cottage cheese (I know you said you were over that), and cereals.
