My best friend just found out on Christmas day that she is having a precious little girl! We are all very excited! She is like a sister to me and I love her dearly! So heres the thing she asked me if she could name her baby girl after me, which I would be very honored by, I was pretty much speechless when she asked! My name is Brittany and she wants to name her daughter Brytttani
( I dont even begin to know how you would pronounce that) I really am honored that she wants to do this but honestly the spelling is REALLY... bad! I really love her for wanting to do that and I would hate to hurt her feelings but.... I can just see her sweet girl in 20 years asking me why in the world did I let her do that! So should I say something or just let it go? Sorry about the long post but I could really use some good advice on this one!
Thanks
Re: My best friend..
it depends on your relationship with her. I have friends that I feel perfectly comfortable telling them that their name ideas suck (I'm looking at you, AllieJo ((not that you have bad name ideas))). But generally speaking, it's rude to offer an opinion when it's not asked for.
But IF she asked, I would tell her that the spelling would probably be a pain for her daughter.

Good lord! Maybe you could couch it in fake personal experience, ie:
Awww, I'm so flattered! I do love my name, but because there are multiple spellings people are always asking me how to spell it. I'd definitely advise future Brittanies to stick to the classic spelling and minimize that headache.
I think this idea is brilliant!
