Car seats???

When do you switch over?  My girls are only 15 and 18 lbs...24 and 27 inches long.  I feel like people are starting to transition.  Don't the car seats go to 30 or 35 lbs?  Is it that they get too long?

Re: Car seats???

  • You could keep them in until they reach the weight limit.  Personally DD is starting to look uncomfortable and all squeezed in and she's only 14 pounds.  Plus it's heavy to carry her and the seat.  Since she sits pretty well now I just put her in the shopping cart.  We're switching to the convertible very soon.  DH already uses one in his car because we got one for our shower.  He drops DD at daycare and we are not allowed to leave her infant seat there, so he's been using the convertible for a while.  She loves it.

  • We're not switching yet, I just bought the seat now because it was a good deal.  Ours is 30 lbs or 30 inches, and she will definitely reach the height limit before the weight limit.

  • You can keep them in the infant seat until the top of their head is one inch from the top of the shell. They can be over 30 inches as long as their head is at this level.

  • we just switched over this week.  dd2 was getting pretty big for the infant seat.  she had about an inch to go on top, and her shoulders were getting tight.

  • I will be switching when my lo grows out of weight/height limit. This will probably be after he is a year cause he is a little guy only 14 lbs. Im getting my money's worth that's for sure!  I also like that I can take him in and out of the car in his seat if I want to or take him out of the car without it.

  • We switched because DD Wasn't loving the recline and I was not loving lugging that heavy Seat.
  • Our carseat goes up to 30 lbs or 30 inches. We have to switch soon bc DD was 28in at her 6 month visit. I would follow the guidelines of your car seat. Car seat safety is not something to take lightly.
