Caleb has a ridge that runs up and down on his forehead. We asked the pediatrician about it at his 4 month appt, and he said to make sure we are giving lots of tummy time and he would check it again at the 6 month appt. Yesterday at the 6 month appt, the ped said he thinks it looks worse and we are going to see a plastic surgeon to see if it is metopic synostosis, which from my understanding of what the ped said is that two of his skull plates fused too early.
Has anyone else dealt with this? I am already a little worried and am not letting myself google it. Thanks!
Re: XP: metopic synostosis
My youngest son who is now 14 has a ridge on his forehead. When he was a baby I mentioned it to our pediatrician and was told it was just the shape of his and not to worry about it. Well I did worry and I always wished it would go away, but it never did and after awhile I just stopped noticing it. He still has a bit of a ridge but it is barely noticeable mostly when he is mad lol. I didn't know anything about metopic synostosis and it's a good thing I didn't have google then too.He had days that it was more prominent then others though.
