When did you give puffs? The container says not to give puffs to LO until she is crawling with her belly off the ground. DD isn't doing that yet. She does everything else the container recommends as a developmental milestone. At what age did you give your LO puffs? Was she crawling at the time? Were you worried about choking?

We just started this week since I noticed that she was "chewing" her purees for the past 2 weeks now. I [nurotically] break them up into tiny pieces so that she can start to get the feel of texture and I know that it melts in her mouth. I also give her pieces of fruit (banana, pears, apples) in the netted feed thingy so that she can gum it. She seems to be really liking it.
ETA: yes she crawls. She starts out on her hands but always moves down to the army crawl if she wants to get somewhere faster. She also started pulling up 1.5 wks ago. I worry about choking, but that is why we are starting with puffs and yogurt melts since I can break them up and know they will melt in her mouth. Sorta like a starter to giving finger foods.
She had puffs for the first time at 6 months. She's never choked on them and she picks them up just fine. Now she sees the container and starts jumping up and down in her seat.
We started puffs this week and J is not crawling. Our pedi recommended them at our 6 month appt. They disolve in his mouth so I am not worried about choking.
We started giving our LO puffs at 7 1/2 months. She was army crawling but not yet fully crawling yet. We didn't really worry about choking because we tried them out first and they really do dissolve pretty quickly. A few times she put it too far on her tounge and kind of coughed a bit but then it turned mushy and she just swallowed it. I don't know if it is a correlation or not but a few days after we started giving her the puffs she started babbling and combining sounds to make "words" da-da, ba-ba, ma-ma". I don't know if using her tounge to move the puffs around in her mouth and the different ways she can move her mouth to eat the puffs helped in aideing her "talking" but I'd like to think so! I also tried giving her cut up, mushed up bananas but she just gags on them so I figured she isn't ready yet.
we did a few days ago. Just after 7 months. he chews them mostly but I still break them in half. She rarely gets them to her mouth on her own at this point though. No problems with choking though.
We gave them at 6 months when DD looked to be trying to crawl. I don't think that the crawling part actually matters. DD didn't crawl until a week before 7 months and she did just fine all those weeks of eating puffs. She loves them and gets them daily as a snack.
Weird that they would put crawing on the package. Some babies don't ever crawl. I went right to walking. I don't think my LO is going to crawl either. Just a strange instruction to be on a package to me.
